Happy Fall!
The cool air has come, pumpkin spice is in the air, and everyone is dusting off their cardigans. With all of the fall festivities, let's not forget about ENA! Fall is a busy season for us and we have some activities packed in between now and the holiday season. Here is a list of upcoming activities that you or your colleagues may be interested in. Please help us spread the word and post the attached flyers in your departments.
- Deadline for Chapter Nominations: September 30th at midnight. So far we have zero nominations for the 2022 chapter board positions! We are looking for volunteers to step up and help lead us into a new year. Bring forward your ideas and leadership and make a difference in our community. And don't be afraid our chapter has mentors that can provide you with their years of experience in chapter leadership. Open positions are President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer. Please submit your desire to run for a specific position to our e-mail: NEPiedomontENA@gmail.com
- ENA Professional Networking and Meet Up: October 21st at Camel City BBQ in Winston Salem. This is an opportunity to unwind and have fun with fellow emergency nurses. Come hang out with us for a night of unscripted entertainment, network with emergency nurses from across our chapter, and share your thoughts on the state of current affairs. Click here to register and help us get a headcount.
- Solheim Virtual CEN Review: October 25th and 26th. As part of our annual chapter educational event, we are bringing one of the country's best nursing educators to prepare you for your CEN exam. The national pass rate for this exam is somewhere around 55%. Taking a CEN review class will significantly boost your chances of passing and giving you a distinct advantage over the workforce. - NCENA Fall Conference (In-Person or Virtual): November 4th and 5th in Ashville. Only $69 for ENA members!! In-Person seats are running out! Join us either in beautiful Asheville, NC or on WebEx for the North Carolina Emergency Nurses Symposium, the premier emergency nursing event of the year! This annual event brings emergency nurses from across the region together with an engaging educational opportunity to advance their knowledge in this specialty through evidence-based information as well as outstanding networking opportunities with colleagues and exhibitors. Click here for event info.
- Final Chapter Meeting of 2021: November 9th. We just confirmed that we have a sponsor providing a dinner at Gianno's of High Point. This location is centerally located in our chapter so we can make it more accessible to all. Our sponsor is Teleflex bringing us information on EZ IO, Quick Clot, and other products. Our education for the evening will be presented by Bradley Dean host of a national EMS podcast called EMS Handoff and he will be presenting Tip Your Cap With Capnography. It will cover advanced capnography concepts and discuss what those crazy waveforms can tell you. 1 hour of CNE is awarded and as always we will raffle off a 1 year ENA membership. Click here to be linked to the event page.
We hope to see you during these great opportunities! One final reminder, please take time to take care of yourself. Burnout is real, being over worked happens, anxiety and PTSD do not have to be a normal part of the job. The only way you can effectively care for your patients is to first take care of your own well being. Don't let offers of money to cause you to work beyond your limits. Don't be guilted into picking up time because while it may be a temporary fix in the long run it is causing nurses to run away from the profession. Your wellbeing is number 1 and don't forget that.
"Stress is the trash of modern life. We all generate it but if you don't dispose of it properly, it will pile up and overtake your life." ~Danzae Pace
